CRSG Makes Bold Move, Names 35 Persons Wanted For Cult Killings

Posted on May 25, 2020 By Admin No Comments on CRSG Makes Bold Move, Names 35 Persons Wanted For Cult Killings

The Cross River State Government has reacted to the incessant spate of cult related murders in the state by making public a list of 35 persons wanted in connection with the killings.

Alfred Mboto, Permanent Secretary, who signed the letter naming and declaring the 35 as wanted, stated clearly that these lot were suspected to be behind the incessant spate of killings, something that was unacceptable to government.

However, a www.calitown.com evaluation of the list shows clearly that government may have partially succeeded in identifying the suspects.

For starters, only 14 persons on the list can be identified by their real names; 21 are captured either by only their first names or nicknames, making it difficult for further identification. Secondly, a greater percentage of the names appear to be indigenous to a neighbouring state, apparently giving credence to argument in several quarters that most of those formenting trouble in the state are not indigenes.

Two persons on the list, were recently granted amnesty and discharged from prison while another two were government agents; one a correctional services officer while the other one was a dismissed military police personnel.
