CRUTECH Acting-VC Wants Niger Delta Students To Shun Violence, Cultism

Acting Vice Chancellor of the Cross River University of Technology, CRUTECH, Austin Angba, has charged Niger Delta students to shun violence, cultism and focus on their studies, show better commitment and demonstrate a clear determination to succeed in academics and life.

Angba who made this charge in his office when the leadership of the Niger Delta Students Union Government, NIDSUG, paid him a courtesy visit, further expressed his dissatisfaction at what students unionism has become today.

“The unions are so disorganisedzed and no longer fight for the welfare of the students by demanding better hostel accommodation, better lecture halls and better amenities on campus from university managements, but rather fight for their own selfish gains which was not so from the beginning of student unionism on campus”, he said.

The Professor insisted to his guests that, students in the Niger Delta must become security officers too, complimenting the efforts of school authorities to help checkmate the nefarious activities of students, on and off campus.

Earlier, President of NIDSUG, Dgreat Maaloo, said the visit was to congratulate the VC on his appointment and to show solidarity and support from the leadership of NIDSUG and the entire Niger Delta Students on his well deserved appointment.

Maaloo also used the opportunity to call on the CRS governor, Ben Ayade, to make the appointment of the VC substantive, considering his academic pedigree, exposure and administrative competence.
