Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police, Mohammed A. Adamu, has hailed the book, “Critical Thinking and Policing” written by Cross River-born Mathias Okoi-Uyouyo & Abdul M. Suleiman, as “an invaluable intellectual and professional contribution to the discourse on policing”.

The IGP who wrote the forward to the book, presented to the public last week in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, further revealed that policing across the world must of necessity evolve in line with dynamics of crime as crime governance in the 21st century has gone beyond the hue and cries, application of brute force, and archaic approaches. He recommended the work to every police officer while scoring the authors high marks for digging deep and putting together an intellectual material of this magnitude.

Otive Igbuzor, Chief of Staff to the Deputy Senate President and book reviewer, pointed out in his review that, “the book addresses issues of global concern using global perspectives without forgetting the Nigerian policing environment making the conclusions context specific. “It is a beautiful addition to the literature on Policing. I strongly recommend the book to Police Training Institutions, Police Officers, Scholars, bureaucrats, political leaders, civil society organisations and indeed anyone interested in effective policing across the world”, he submitted.

The authors told www.calitown.com that the 259 paged book, divided into six chapters and four appendices, is their modest scholarly contribution to enhancing policing in the country.

The cerebral Okoi-Uyouyo has authored many works including “Stepping Forward With Uti J. D. Agba”, a book which provides critical access to the rich diversity and background of Goddy Jedy Agba.
