As WAEC Relocates CR Office To Akwa Ibom State, Ayade Reacts Swiftly

Posted on November 3, 2020 By Admin No Comments on As WAEC Relocates CR Office To Akwa Ibom State, Ayade Reacts Swiftly
The WAEC press release.

In what is a direct fallout from the recent violent destruction of government and private property, the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has in a press statement currently in circulation, announced the relocation of its office and services in Calabar, Cross River State to neighbouring Akwa Ibom State, citing the “…vandalization, looting and burning down of the WAEC Branch Office by hoodlums on Saturday, October 24, 2020” as reason for the location.

The release further adds that, “the relocation which is an interim measure, is to enable the Council continue to carry out its operations and render services to the Nigerian Child and other stakeholders”.

But the Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade, in a swift response to the release,  apologized to WAEC for the unfortunate incident and directed this morning, while on an inspection of the damaged office, that alternative office accomodation be immediately provided for WAEC while two brand new Hilux trucks will also be given to the Calabar office to ease logistics and transportation. Education Commissioner, Godwin Akpanke, who spoke with www.calitown.com during the inspection, informed that he has commenced the immediate search for temporary accomodation, which he explained will be provided before the week runs out.
