Posted on December 18, 2023 By Admin No Comments on Years After, Calabar Set To Experience Pipe Borne Water Supply Again

We can authoritatively confirm that the Cross River State Ministry of Water Resources is currently working round the clock to ensure that pipe borne water returns to Calabar metropolis, years after the taps in Calabar went dry.

In exclusive interfaces with the Commissioner in charge of the ministry, Bassey Offiong Mensah, as well as some ministry officials, a few technical challenges, www.calitown.com was told, which are presently being worked on, are believed to have scuttled a water test run which could have commenced today, Monday, December 18, 2023.

On the quality of water and suitability for domestic consumption, we were informed by the commissioner that, “because of rust and how long the pipes have stayed without water, Ministry officials directly incharge of supply, have advised that, the water we will be initially pumping, will not be for consumption. The idea is first, to get the system working, identify and rectify faults, repair broken pipes and when supply quality has been certified for consumption, the general public will be adequately informed.”

Asked to confirm how long this process will take, a sources inside the ministry remained resolute that the process will not be rushed because of how critical it is to get things right. “We have the understanding that we will not rush the process and be rest assured that the work we have so far done, under the supervision of our commissioner is designed to get taps running in Calabar and her environs soon.”
