
The senator representing Cross River Central in the National Assembly, Eteng Jonah Williams, has called for collaboration with security agencies in the state to tackle insecurity in the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State.
William made this call during a courtesy visit to some heads of key security agencies in Cross River State.
The courtesy visit which began with a warm reception at the office of the Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, G. Grimah, was followed by a visit to the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Cross River State Command and the final leg was a visit to the Director of the DSS Cross River State Command
Throughout each visit, the Senator expressed gratitude to the heads of the respective agencies for their dedication and efforts in ensuring the safety and security of the community, especially during the festive season. He emphasized the need to do more to tackle the recent issues of kidnapping in some communities in Ikom Local Government Area.
Recognizing the crucial role they play in maintaining law and order, Williams charged the security agencies to improve information gathering that will help avert communal clashes as communities enter into the farming season.
In their responses, heads of the DSS, NSCDC, and the Police, expressed their appreciation for the senator’s visit, recognizing it as a testament to his commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property of his constituents. They echoed their readiness to collaborate closely, pooling their expertise and resources for the greater benefit of the citizens.
