DISCLAIMER: Farmers Association Warn Farmers Against Fraudulent Circulating Loan Offer

Posted on September 3, 2024September 3, 2024 By Admin 2 Comments on DISCLAIMER: Farmers Association Warn Farmers Against Fraudulent Circulating Loan Offer

Farouk Rabiu-Mudi, president, All Farmers Association of Nigeria, AFAN, says his association no hand in a fake scheme currently circulating online and urging farmers across the country to make payments into a Wema Bank account, 9308255132, with account name, TT FMARD CLEARANCE UNIT ACCOUNT, as disbursement clearance fees for agricultural grants to farmers.

Rabiu-Mudi’s statement, made public Tuesday, informed further that the circulating notice was designed by fraudsters to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

“It has come to our notice that some individuals are sending information purported to be from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to all our members. They are asking them to register and apply for a loan, requesting them to pay an amount into a WEMA Bank account with support from AFAN.”

“We hereby bring to the knowledge and notice of the general public and AFAN members that the association is not aware of any development regarding the issuance of loans to any group or members of any association. AFAN, therefore, advises the general public and the members of AFAN to ignore the notice because AFAN does not have a Wema Bank account in the first place.”

Independent checks by www.calitown.com, show that several unsuspecting members of the public, especially in Cross River State, have so far made the N2,000 (two thousand naira) payments to the Wema Bank account, with the hope of receiving agricultural grants from between N350,000 (three hundred and fifty thousand) to N500,000 (five hundred thousand naira).

Pls, this is going out of hand. My sister just received a message today 29th October, 2024 to pay 2k into a moniepoint account with the following details; acc no- 6349614422, acc name- BPD INVESTMENT GLOBAL FARMERS ACCOUNT. she informed me so I decided to confirm whether it’s true. Does AFAN have a moniepoint account since it’s no more WEMA BANK. Pls, recover your site fast to avoid more citizens falling victims. Thanks.
