C’River: Tension Rises In Ugep, One Killed In Cult Clash

Posted on August 4, 2025 By Admin 1 Comment on C’River: Tension Rises In Ugep, One Killed In Cult Clash

We can confirm that one person has been killed in what local sources say is a power tussle between two factions of a yet to be identified local cult group in Ugep, Cross River State.

The deceased, identified by local sources as one Usang, from Assiga village, Yakurr LGA, is married and has children. We were also informed that for most of parts of yesterday, Sunday, sporadic gunshots, at intervals, rent the air in Ugep with palpable fear gripping local residents as terror was unleashed.

“In broad daylight, these boys were marching all over town, carrying offensive weapons. I don’t even know if the local monarch will be able to address this situation alone because of the number of young men at the heart of this issue. Government must confront this issue with the seriousness it deserves, get those involved arrested and prosecuted”, one source who pleaded anonymity, told www.calitown.com over the phone.

By this morning, a local town crier we were told, has been all over town pushing out a rallying cry and urging local residents to rise up and defend the town.

Local touts have taken over Ugep even with mopol in Calabar , why not bring in this force to deal with the situation or is everybody compromised as cultism is the in thing now because if you check out you will discover that the elites and well to do are members of the cult groups.
