Casual Staff In The CRS Civil Service To Be Fully Engaged

Posted on August 12, 2025 By Admin No Comments on Casual Staff In The CRS Civil Service To Be Fully Engaged

Hundreds of casual staff currently engaged by the Cross River State Government in her various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, MDAs are to smile soon as plans have reached an advanced stage to regularise their appointments.

Innocent Eteng, Cross River State Head of Service, who made this disclosure as part of activities marking this year’s Civil Service Week further disclosed that these casual workers, who have worked for several years earning monthly stipends of between N5,000 and N10,000, will finally see their engagements regularised.

His office, he maintained, had already compiled the names of the casual staff and presented same to state governor, Bassey Otu, adding that the governor was “very disposed to matters concerning the welfare of civil servants.”

On promotions, Eteng further assured that junior staff would no longer be promoted ahead of their senior colleagues and emphasised that officers due for retirement must vacate their positions. “Permanent Secretaries are only to serve for five years and must disengage in line with civil service regulations,” he said.

To further motivate workers in the service, Eteng announced that 52 civil servants would receive awards this week while the allotment of official vehicles to eligible civil servants has received the governor’s nod.
