Imoke Recieves Praise As New Chairmen Get Advice

Posted on December 18, 2013December 19, 2013 By Admin No Comments on Imoke Recieves Praise As New Chairmen Get Advice

Yibala Inyang, Community Relations Officer, CRO, Yakurr I State Constituency, has congratulated Sen. Liyel Imoke, Cross River State governor, for successfully swearing-in new helmsmen in 17 local government areas of the state. Inyang while interacting with calitown.com maintained that “His Excellency has demonstrated clearly, with the swearing-in, that he is totally committed to upholding the principles of democracy in the discharge of his functions as governor”.

He was particular that, “while most states in Nigeria are finding it absolutely difficult to conduct local council elections, Gov. Imoke midwifed a peaceful political process that saw to the election of the chairmen and women, by far a positive outcome by all standards” and prayed God to “guide and direct the new chairmen and women, their deputies and all those who will work with them, to deliver on the expectations of the people”.

For the chairman of his local council area, Hon. Ikpi Ikpi Akpama, the CRO was particular that, “the honourable chairman needs to settle down quickly and go to work, identifying key areas that demand urgent attention and exploring further, other areas that demand long-term concerted collaborations with agencies of government and beyond”.

On how council chairmen can benefit from the work CROs have done in the local council areas, Inyang said, “in a place like Yakurr I State Constituency where I did extensive needs assessment, I can tell you that beyond youth unemployment, there is even a greater need to address issues in agriculture, health/sanitation, the propagation of peace and security as well as the creation of an all inclusive government that utilises the abundant human and material potentials in the area. Chairmen will do well to understand that now, they are fathers to all other working groups and refuse to see other agencies working in their areas as competitors. If inclusion is broad based, the result at the end of the day, it is my believe, will be enormous and our state the better for it”.

He further advised council bosses to design and embark on “people oriented projects and programmes as a way of helping government get to the people”, just like he did not fail to beg that “the people co-operate with the new local administrations in the collective push to the Cross River of our dreams”. Inyang concluded by wishing Cross Riverians a happy yuletide season.
