Obioma’s Mask Fete Records Poor Turn Out

Posted on December 23, 2013 By Admin No Comments on Obioma’s Mask Fete Records Poor Turn Out

Perhaps, outside the heartwarming cash donations of N5million by Culture and Tourism minister, Edem Duke and ‘Mama Bakassi’, Florence Ita-Giwa’s $10,000 in support of Cross River First Lady, Obioma Imoke’s Campaign Against Pneumonia in Cross River, calitown.com sources say this year’s Governor’s Mask Fete’ held at Emporium B of the Tinapa Leisure Resort, amazingly recorded a poor turnout.

The occasion originally billed to begin at 7p.m local time, never hit the ground running until 11p.m. “Even at that, most tables were empty and I am sure the organizers of the event must have been wondering why a show with so much hype did not turn out well”, one source told calitown.com

Those in the know are pointing to the fact that the recent suspension of 21 Executive Council members by state governor, Liyel Imoke, may be unconnected with the poor attendance recorded at the function. “You know that most of the suspended members use to come with a retinue of friends and associates, since they are temporarily out of the corridors of power, I am certain most of them had to stay away. You want them to attend the function as who?” another source said.

Long accused of being a ‘lame’ governor, Imoke has recently stunned political watchers silly with his hard-line decision to suspend 21 Executive Council members in a move some other watchers bet is the governor’s subtle attempt at a cabinet re-shuffling that so many have craved for. It is also thought to be his response to perceived uncomplimentary political activities of a few of the council members.
