Revealed: CRUTECH Has 10, 000 Students, 498 Academic Staff

Posted on January 28, 2014 By Admin No Comments on Revealed: CRUTECH Has 10, 000 Students, 498 Academic Staff

The Cross River State University of Technology, CRUTECH, has a student population of 10, 996 (ten thousand, nine hundred and ninety six), scattered across her four campuses; Calabar, Obubra, Ogoja and Okuku, and catered to by 498 academic staff, it has been disclosed to calitown.com.

Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Eneobong Effiom Eneobong, made this exclusive disclosure in his office while chatting with calitown.com. In the breakdown that the VC gave, the Calabar campus with a student population of 8, 563, occupies pole position, followed by the Ogoja, Obubra and Okuku campuses with a student population of 1, 516 (one thousand, five hundred and sixteen), 474 (four hundred and seventy four) and 443 (four hundred and forty three), respectively.

Eneobong further disclosed that the institution has 251 academic staff with doctorate degree holders across the fields of Engineering, Communication Technology, Management Science, Environmental Science, Education, among others. Of this number, the School of Communication Technology has the lowest number of academic staff with doctorate degrees; 11, while 66 academic staff with doctorate degrees are in the Sciences.

“It will interest you to know that the school has 15 programmes with full accreditation, 24 with interim accreditation, while no programme in this institution has been denied accreditation”, the VC said. It is perhaps a function of how hard the school’s administration has worked to justify investment  so far directed at the institution by the Cross River State government.

The institution’s helmsman, who winds down his time as VC in a matter of days, points to “vigourous Human Resource Development as a priority agenda” for his administration, adding that “this is not only critical for the actualization of the vision and mission of CRUTECH, but also for the overall change and innovation which are top challenges to most organizations”.
