The intractable political conflict within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Cross River state, took a turn for the worse early this morning with www.calitown.com sources confirming that they may have been a bomb scare in the state secretariat of the party at about few minutes past 5 am. An office inside the secretariat is believed to have been targeted.

Though no lives were lost, people living around the secretariat, located on Murtala Mohammed highway lay claim to being awoken by a loud blast that shook the secretariat and surrounding buildings. As at press time, heavily armed security personnel have cordoned off the entire area and a part of the dual carriage highway blocked, confining vehicular and human traffic to one part of the highway. Attempts by www.calitown.com reporters to gain access into the secretariat was sternly rebuffed by soldiers at the gate.

“We heard a very loud blast this morning and we initially thought one of the transformers had blown, but when my husband went out, he discovered that the blast was from the PDP secretariat”, one resident of the area confirmed.

The party is on course in CRS . the rescheduled congress is the best thing to address grievances. the winners of the first will still win this.
