PDP’s House of Assembly candidate for Yakurr II State Constituency, Cross River central, Eteng Williams has informed www.calitown.com that contrary to word making the rounds that he brought a group of persons from Calabar to unleash mayhem on his Mkpani community, “nothing of that nature happened, those who say so are only lying and trying to justify the ugly things that they did during the elections. It is impossible for them to win this election in my constituency as you have seen…the only thing they feel they should do is to disrupt the election. I mean, how will I in the driver’s seat disrupt an election that I am sure of winning considering that I have visible political structures, I have worked very hard and I am in touch with my people? It does not make sense I must say”.

He went on to say that, “people in Mkpani community protested when certain persons attempted hijacking election materials to the house of a former governor, Clement Ebri. Even one of the their boys trying to climb the fence in Ebri’s house, was shot from inside the compound and I learnt it is Ebri’s security that shot him”, adding that his supporters have remained calm in the face of unmerited provocation.

Williams was also quick to refute the allegation made by an online news media (not www.calitown.com) to the effect that the house of a former Crime Editor with The Chronicle newspaper, Hosana Ukaonu, was torched by PDP supporters. Hear him; “nobody’s house in Aduma was torched and Ukaonu’s house was not burnt. From where I am sitting in my house, as I speak with you, I can see Ukaonu’s house and nothing has happened to it”. To drive home his point, the legislator who currently represents Yakurr II State Constituency in the CRS House of Assembly pointed www.calitown.com, in the wee hours of this morning to the arrests made by the police. Hear him; “the police arrested some boys in my area with arms in the vehicle of a former House of Assembly member and this goes to show how a few persons decide to take the laws into their hands while supporting a candidate who has no structures that can win him an election. We have to be plain on this issues and I am sure that with this arrest, our people know for sure who the enemies of progress are”.
