While the internet has been awash in the last couple of days, via a letter written by the Registrar of the University of Calabar, dated August 12, 2015, to the effect that Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, the House of Representatives member, representing Ogoja/Yala Federal constituency, Cross River State, did not graduate from the University of Calabar, www.calitown.com can reveal through a document, secretly obtained from the University that Jarigbe did indeed graduate from the University.

The letter with reference number, UC/PAC/1, dated August 31, 2015 and signed by I. E. Uwah, a professor and Head of Department, Pure and Applied Chemistry, states in part that, Jarigbe“graduated in the 2003/2004 academic session with a Second Class Lower degree”
It further states that, “His registration number was released late by the Registry; therefore it could not follow the sequence of our published sessional results. (see raw scores of one of the courses offered in year one, 1995/96 session)”.

The letter in the final paragraph states thus; “This memo supercedes an earlier memo sent to the Registrar, dated 28th July, 2015”.

Sources within the University informed www.calitown.com that yesterday, September 1, 2015, authorities in the institution may have been forced to admit that it committed an error as conveyed in the letter initially sent out by the Registrar. One source maintains, “our record keeping in the school needs to be improved upon. We have had cases where students come here to collect results and such results, because they have been weather beaten, cannot be accounted for. This particular case has indeed challenged us and I think it is going to make us sit up so that we do not embarrass our students, who rise to positions of authority”.

“I think we must commend the Vice-Chancellor of Unical, James Epoke, for being thorough with this particular case after the heat it generated, I am also sure that in the days ahead, the watchword will be caution”, another source concluded.

God is awesome! Leaders are always persecuted by his people, please take it as a School and move on. I admire your courage.
