Special Adviser to the Cross River State governor on Public Affairs, Tony Undiandeye, has offered apologises to Cross Riverians over the administration’s inability to fully rid, particularly, the state capital of huge refuse dumps that adorn large parts of Calabar. Particularly, he says, government may be unable to immediately tackle the problem as a few drawbacks stand in the way, www.calitown.com can report.

Undiandeye who spoke on HIT 95.9 FM, a private radio station in Calabar, on the “Ayade Administration: The Journey So Far”, a programme to mark the administration’s one year in office, informed listener’s that “the dump site in Calabar has collapsed and government is working on getting a new dump site and until we achieve that, it will be difficult to achieve optimal refuse evacuation. People also need to know that, when this administration came on, it inherited N200 million in unpaid funds to refuse collecting agents which she had to liquidate”.

Again, Undiandeye, points to the fact that government plans to individualize refuse collection, making it possible for certain persons living on particular streets to be saddled with the responsibility of refuse collection on such streets so that it is easier for residents to hold them accountable.

He pleaded with Cross Riverians to co-operate with the Ayade administration, showing understanding and patience in the days ahead.
