Towards enthroning sustainable peace and indivisibility by the Yakurr people and among Yakurr Communities in Cross River State, a visitation mission to Yakurr Communities in the Central Senatorial District of the State is underway.

Initiated by concerned Yakurr sons and daughters in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, in collaboration with Yakurr leaders in Calabar, the visitation outreach under the auspices of THE YAKURR PEACE MISSION will feature a peace rally in all the Yakurr Communities to be followed by an extra ordinary peace summit for all Yakurr traditional rulers and leaders of thought at Ugep. The two historic events are slated to hold on Friday,  July 8, and Saturday  July 9, 2016.
The peace rally will hold on Friday while the peace summit with yakurr traditional rulers will be on Saturday. All Yakurr Sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora who are passionate about sustainable peace and harmonious co-existence in Yakurr are implored to support and be part of this initiative for the overall economic and socio-political development of Yakurr, Central Senatorial District, Cross River State and the South-South Geo Political Zone.
It will be recalled that, worried by the recent communal clash between Nko and Mkpani Communities in the area, the People of Yakurr in Abuja under the aegis of The Yakurr Peoples Club (YPC) had earlier held an extra ordinary meeting to chart the way forward for sustainable peace to prevail among the two communities of Nko and Mkpani as well as an amiable, amicable and peaceful co-existence among the Yakurr communities of Ugep, Idomi, Ekori, Mkpani, Nko, Iyinma, Agoi and Assiga. The extra ordinary meeting which had in attendance the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani and other Eminent Sons and daughters of Yakurr deliberated on the way forward for enduring peace among communities in Yakurr, Cross River State. The meeting condemned the Nko-Mkpani as well as Inyima-Oyeadama communal clashes with a call for a thorough inquest into it and perpetrators prosecuted and made to face the full weight of the Law.
It appealed to the Cross River State Government to expedite action in rehabilitating damaged schools and other public utilities for use by the people. The meeting called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Cross River State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to provide relief materials as palliative to those who suffered losses as a result of the communal clash among other resolutions.
