John Ushie, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Chairman, Cross River State, at 6.47 pm, this Wednesday evening confirmed to www.calitown.com over the phone that Labour in the state has voted to commence an industrial strike from next week Tuesday, May 30, 2017, an action that will see all government offices shut until the Cross River State Government  agrees to pay in full, gratuities of retired civil servants, promote civil servants, release imprests to ministeries and terminate the use of consultants  in the payment of salaries.

“There is nothing we can say when the general assembly votes in favour of an industrial action. You know we are leaders  and our mandate is validated by the general union assembly, if they have voted in favour of a strike, there is nothing we can do”, Ushie said.

The industrial action will further cripple a state currently experiencing a plethora of seemingly self inflicted problems that have left citizens seriouly agitated. Checks by www.calitown.com reveal that the strike action will be indefinite as attempts to make government see reason with Labour’s demands have met a brickwall.
