“Akin Ricketts Has Our Support To Run For Senate” – APC

Akin Ricketts

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Cross River State, says it is solidly behind the senatorial ambition of Akin Ricketts, former Information commissioner in the Liyel Imoke administration, seeking to represent Cross River Central Senatorial district.

Ekum Ekok Ojogu, State Financial Secretary of the APC, who spoke while addressing journalists, came clear that an aspirant like Ricketts who has all it takes to represent the district, cannot be ignored by the APC because his wealth of experience is something the party must leverage on to win at the polls. He added that the APC has massive grassroot support in the state that will guarantee electoral victory “especially now that Ben Ayade’s non-performance has made it a lot easier for us to win elections in Cross River State. You may not find us in newspapers or online, making noise and propagating false claims, but we are in the field working and very soon you will all see the fruits of our work.”

Deputy Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Jonathan Ntui, also informed that by “Akin Ricketts formal declaration of intent to run for Senate, clearly indicates there’s positive high interest in governance from a credible crop of persons who can clearly demonstrate that Ayade seems to be a creation of illusions, an abysmal failure in his reckless activities called governance.

APC big wig, Cletus Obun, who also spoke to www.calitown.com, informed us that, ” Akin Ricketts notified me that he will like to make a consequential pronouncement that gladdens the heart. It is on the strength of this pronouncement that the party is already moving towards mobilising and stimulating support for the election. Yes Ayade has virtually surrendered the state to APC but there is so much work to be done. We must set our agenda in CR; our candidates, the right choice must be picked. We stand a 70% chance of winning the election if the right candidates are picked and our party structure remains more active and coordinated.”

Ricketts who spoke with www.calitown.com said “now is the time for Old Obubra, comprising Yakurr, Abi and Obubra to firm up the power shift from Old Ikom to Old Obubra argument.” He was confident that APC can win elections in CRS, adding that “my people who have insisted that l run, want effective representation and I am well placed to meet their objectives and aspirations.”
