...Abuse of office, embezzlement, etc cited as reasons.
The Boki Legislative Council, Cross River Central, has removed the Leader of the legislature, Obi Sunday Nku, pursuant to the provisions of the Cross River State Local Government Laws No. 22 (2007), Part IV, Sec. 33, Sub Sec. (1), (2) & (3).
Members of the legislature, in a document circulated, dated July 7, 2025, maintained that Nku’s removal was effected on actions bothering on abuse of office, gross misconduct, misappropriation/embezzlement of funds, as well as abuse of power.
Sources in Boki LGA, who pleaded anonymity, confided in www.calitown.com that, “please imagine for instance that since January, 2025, the young man has refused to include his colleagues in the Unified Councillors Forum, a platform where all councillors in CRS, are leveraging on technology to interface. He is one of the administrators of the platform but he won’t let his colleagues take part in the forum. Isn’t that petty and abused of power? Let us not go into reeling out financial figures that he can’t account for.”
We also gathered that “before his colleagues decided to remove him, some of us who are by all standards party men and women, tried to talk this young man into seeing reason and he turned the other way. Do you know that all through the recent Nsadop/Boje crisis, he was unable to put the legislature today for any decisive legislative pronouncement? Should a rudderless leader continue? He cannot move the legislature forward and I tell you sincerely, this legislature must move on without him”, we were told.
