Most Compelling Literary Work, Out Dec. 28!
“I must have been just about the tender age of five or six; that phase of youth when the physical world begins to take some form of shape – begins to make some sort of sense – begins to unfurl its compelling and overwhelming complex strata like a flower in the sun, to the comprehension of highly inquisitive, receptive, emulative and magnetic little minds such as mine”(Excerpt from Stephen David Eteng’s ‘OKAGBENG AND THE MERMAID’)
‘OKAGBENG AND THE MERMAID’, will be launched this Saturday, the 28th of December, 2013 at the Government Guest House, Ugep, Yakurr LGA.
It will be reviewed by renowned historian and Commissioner in the Cross River State Civil Service Commissioner, Otu Abam Ubi, PhD. When calitown.com spoke with Ubi this morning, seeking his assessment of the work, he responded that, “it is a good literary work, earnestly. Stephen Eteng must be encouraged because he has a wonderful creative gift”.
Eteng, the author, clearly says that the work is his own “contribution to the development of literature in one of Africa’s most vibrant native communities – Yakurr”.
