Court Sacks 20 Cross River Lawmakers For Defecting To APC

Posted on March 21, 2022March 21, 2022 By Admin No Comments on Court Sacks 20 Cross River Lawmakers For Defecting To APC

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Monday, sacked 20 members of the Cross River State House of Assembly that defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC.

The court, in a judgement that was delivered by Justice Taiwo Taiwo, held that the lawmakers, having abandoned the political party that sponsored them to power, ought to vacate their seats.

The judgement followed a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/975/2021, which was filed by the PDP.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Cross River State has reacted to the judgement of the Federal High Court in Abuja, saying there is no cause for alarm.

In a terse statement by the Party’s Publicity Secretary,  Erasmus Ekpang, the State Chairman, Alphonsus Ogar Eba is quoted as saying that …”the Federal High court judgment that was given against our law makers is nothing to worry about … we trust that the appellate Court will do justice as we file our appeal”.

The Party’s leadership in the State has urged APC members to stay calm and not be distracted.
