CR House Of Reps Member ‘Electrifies’ Constituency With Empowerment Programme

Posted on April 18, 2018April 18, 2018 By Admin No Comments on CR House Of Reps Member ‘Electrifies’ Constituency With Empowerment Programme

Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency, Cross River State, was this afternoon ‘electrified’ as Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, the House of Representatives member representing the constituency, empowered his constituents with a flurry of gift items.

Four vehicles, 31 pieces of brand new bikes, 36 sewing machines, 25 grinding machines, 10 generators and millions of naira in cash, were splashed on ecstatic constituents who defied the extremely hot sun in Ogoja and came out in droves to celebrate a parliamentarian who appears to be setting the standards for effective representation in Cross River State.

At the Ogoja Local Government Council secretariat, venue of the occasion, Martin Orim, Chief of Staff to CRS governor, Ben Ayade, who represented the governor, told the teeming crowd that, Jarigbe’s empowerment programme has raised the bar, especially for a first time House of Reps member, adding that the governor was happy and impressed that the people who voted in the parliamentarian were actually direct beneficiaries. He challenged the parliamentarian to do more since the votes of his constituents sent him to the House of Reps. “If you do not perform well, these people will vote you out. This office is held in trust for the people and our elected officials need to report back to the people; the office is not a personal thing. We must applaud Jarigbe and further encourage other representatives in Abuja and even Calabar to come back to the people and tell them thank you”, Orim later told www.calitown.com exclusively.

” This is a total display of an elected man’s display of sincerity and accountability to his people. He has shown that he not only represents his people, he is also close to them and this people as you can see, believe in him”, Patrick Ebam, State Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Cross River State, told www.calitown.com.

When we cornered the parliamentarian, he told www.calitown.com that “in humility I presented my self for election before my people and they voted massively for me, I have humbly come back to tell them this modest thank you. What I have done here today cannot be compared to what they have done for me, but this is just the beginning, the best of me is yet to come. I am massively grateful to my people and God willing, the next exercise will be better than this one. I thank them all for the opportunity to represent them and pray that God will meet them all at their respective points of need.”
