C’River Female Senator Dies In London!

Rose Okoji Oko, the senator representing Cross River Northern Senatorial district in Nigeria’s Senate, we have confirmed, has passed away in a London hospital were she was receiving treatment for cancer, family sources have said.

Born on September 27, 1956, she was elected the first female representative from her constituency in June 2011, into the House of Representatives, representing Yala/Ogoja Federal Constituency from the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP, before she won elections into the Senate. A second term senator, her demise is believed to have overturned and quickened the political slug fight between Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade and several other persons who have discreetly eyed this senatorial position.

Family, friends and political associates have accordingly expressed shock at her demise,
