Peter Akpanke, who represents the Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has resigned his membership of the party.

Akpanke in a letter addressed to the Chairman, PDP, Bendi Ward 1, Obanliku LGA, Cross River State, pointed to the internal crisis in the PDP, as his reason for resigning from the party. While he did not clearly say in his resignation letter that he was heading to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, political events in the last couple of weeks were a clear signpost to Akpanke’s resignation.

Akpanke’s resignation letter.

Pictures of Akpanke and CR deputy governor, Peter Odey, Chief of Staff to CRS governor, Emmanuel Ironbar and Alphonsus Eba, APC Chairman, CRS, while still a PDP member, as well as his recent absence at the town hall meetings held by Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, the senator representing CR North, largely believed to be his political guardian angel, all but settled the formality of this resignation.

At press time, late Tuesday evening, Akpanke was unavailable for comments.
