Emmanuel Kpongkpong, suspect in the stabbing to death of a Directorate of Security Service, DSS, personnel, Michael Orusede, was on Sunday arrested in Obanliku Local Government Area, North of Cross River State, by the vigilante in the area.

Witnesses in the area who spoke with www.calitown.com over the phone say Orusede was stabbed to death as he tried to disarm an irate Emmanuel Kpongkpong last Thursday in Sankwala.

Kpongkpong shot in the process too, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Obanliku Police Division, Effiong Okon, before escaping from the scene of the incident.

Police in the area swiftly swung into action, arresting the village head after it became clear that the suspect was headed for the Bomaji Mountain in nearby Boki, enroute Cameroun. Youths in the area, went in search of the suspect on the heels of insistence by the Police that it will not release the village head unless the culprit was produced.

The suspect was accordingly arrested by the vigilante and handed over to the Police, who have since released the village head and transfered the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Calabar, awaiting prosecution
