Cross River House Of Reps Member Honoured With Prestigious Award For Commitment To Education

Akpanke, Agianpuye, at the presentation.

The Cross River State Postgraduate Students Association, says the outstanding contributions and unwavering support for education in his Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku Federal Constituency, CRS, by House of Representatives member, Peter Akpanke, is something that should be emulated by leaders at all tiers of government.

Calistus Ubleble Agianpuye, the immediate past president of the postgraduate group, made this disclosure at the Transcorp Hotel, Calabar, when he led a delegation of the group to present an award of excellence to Akpanke, in recognition of his contribution and consistent support to students’ programmes and initiatives in the federal constituency.

Agianpuye came clear that Akpanke’s assistance and continuous contribution to students, remains a source of encouragement that has lessened the cost of education and burden borne by most parents from the area. In providing free transportation to students from the constituency to institutions of higher learning in most parts of the state, Agianpuye maintained that the parliamentarian has not only demonstrated his heart of gold, but has identified and cushioned a specific need of most students from the constituency.

Akpanke in his response, thanked the leadership of the association for the recognition and promised to do more, insisting the award is a challenge and motivation to do more for the people he serves; he acknowledged the importance of the students’ community especially, their commitment to sustaining positive impact and legacies and the seamless support he enjoys from them.
