Cross River State Declares 21 Days Holiday For Civil & Public Servants

Civil and public servants in Cross River State, will proceed on a year-end leave, from Monday, December 15, 2025, to Monday, January 5, 2026, after the state government, in a published circular, granted approval for this holiday.

Head of Service, CRS, Orok Bassey Okon, who signed the circular to this effect, dated Friday, December 5, 2025, and addressed to key government officials, including the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, the Chief Judge, Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments, and other senior officers, explained that this decision was approved by state governor, Bassey Otu, to allow the state’s workforce participate fully in the Christmas celebrations and other end-of-year activities across the state.

Okon came clear in the circular that officers on essential duties are exempted from the holiday and are required to remain at their duty posts to ensure uninterrupted delivery of critical services.

This year’s Christmas activities in Cross River State, coincide with the 20th anniversary of the famous Carnival Calabar, which will draw in revellers from all parts of the world.
