Cross River To Procure 108 Tractors For Mechanized Farming

Posted on March 21, 2024March 21, 2024 By Admin No Comments on Cross River To Procure 108 Tractors For Mechanized Farming

The Cross River State Government says it will procure 108 units of three-wheel agricultural tractors to boost mechanized farming as a way of deliberately supporting small holder farmers across the state to create employment and promote food security. Additionally, the state government says her robust agricultural revolution programmes in different crop areas will be sustained.

This information formed part of the resolutions reached at the third meeting of the Cross River State Executive Council, held this past Wednesday at the Council of Chiefs Chambers, Calabar.

Bassey Edet Otu, CRS governor, who presided over the meeting, expressed the commitment of his administration to extend road infrastructure and the re-construction of internal roads to the major towns of Ogoja, Ikom and Ugep, as well as the completion of the Boki East-West road, Yahe-Ebo-Izekwe-Wanokom-Wanikade-Benue border road, Oban road in Akamkpa as well as Adiabor-Odukpani-Itu road, among other roads requiring attention in the state.

On the Institute of Technology and Management, ITM, Ugep and the Teachers Continuous Training Institute of West Africa, TCTI, Biase, both institutions the governor assured, will be given priority attention, just like plans have been put in place to upgrade the Ogoja Township Stadium.

To boost tourism, the Executive Council has approved special intervention for the restoration of KADA Cinema at the Marina Resort, recently gutted by fire. Approval was also granted for the revival of the Diary Farms at the Ranch Resort as well as a 3-Dimension Digital Survey of the Obudu Ranch Resort in preparation for full restoration of business operations there.

Ten transformers will be procured for the replacement of burnt Power Sub-Stations across the State as well as the total rehabilitation of the Odukpani-Akamkpa Electrification Network.

It was also resolved that three Executive Bills be presented to the Cross River State House of Assembly; an amendment to the Cross River State Security Trust Fund Law 2010, a Bill to provide for the mainstreaming of Climate Change actions and establishment of the State Council on Climate Change and other related Matters as well as a Bill for the establishment of Cross River State Green Economy Commission and other related matters.
