Noble Minds Initiative for the Discouragement of Vandalisation of Public Equipments, NMIDVPE, has appointed Justin Wonah Obla as Taskforce Commissioner/Coordinator for the Protection of Public Assets in Cross River State.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of NMIDVPE, Ikechukwu Chukwu and Innocent Ogu, the group said this appointment was approved by the Governing Board of Trustees of NMIDVPE.

The statement noted that the appointment which is for an initial period of two years, takes effect from Saturday, June 1, 2024 and will last till May 31, 2026.

“We write to confirm the decision of the Governing Board of Trustees of NMIDVPE and its collaborated stakeholders, to appoint you as the Cross River State Petroleum and Solid Minerals Marketers Taskforce Commissioner/ Coordinator 1″

“You and your team are by this appointment, authorised to manage the affairs of NMIDVPE in the entire territory of Cross River State,” the statement pointed out.

The statement further said the team was to serve as watchdog to help eliminate the looting of public funds and property, checkmate the vandalisation of government equipment, bunkering and hoarding of government essential products across the eighteen LGAs in the state.

Other responsibilities of the team will include efforts to help eliminate dubious middlemen who are engaged in sharp business practices, creating artificial scarcity and the adulteration of petroleum products in the state.

The NMIDVPE Governing Board emphasized that the setting up of the taskforce with the attendant appointment of commissioners/coordinators was part of deliberate efforts to eradicate all forms of illegalities in the petroleum and solid minerals sectors of the nation’s economy, which the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration is hugely committed to harness for the overall benefits of government and the citizenry.

It added that all necessary working tools and support would be provided to enable the team to discharge their responsibilities while also soliciting the maximum cooperation from stakeholders and relevant government agencies in the state.
