Alex Egbona, who represents Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency, in the House of Representatives, is happy and has expressed appreciation to Nigeria’s federal government for commencing the construction of the Ebom (Cross River State) – Ndibe (Ebonyi State) bridge project.

Egbona also scored Nigeria’s president, Bola Tinubu, Works minister, Dave Umahi as well as Bassey Otu, CRS governor, high marks for their collective efforts which have positively birthed the ground breaking of the Calabar/Lagos coastal highway project this past Monday. He maintained further that both projects, at completion, will enhance the state’s potentials for commerce and tourism, with direct economic benefits accruing to the state.

Speaking on the Ebom-Ndibe bridge project, Egbona was excited that the minister embarked on the project, after he promised to do so, when he and other members of the South-South caucus of the House of Representatives, paid him a courtesy visit in his office. These projects he came clear, are in fulfilment of an earlier promise that many projects would come to the South-South region.

“This bridge project is of immense importance to my people. In fact, that was why I wanted to draw the federal government’s attention to it through a motion, before my colleague, Igariwe Iduma Enwo, the South/East caucus leader in the House of Reps, who was privy to federal government’s intentions on the project, told me to leave it since the government was in the process of doing something about the bridge.”

“It gives me so much joy that at the end of the day, this very important project is coming to our people, as it will lead to employment opportunities for our people and also boost economic activities in the state.”

“I am equally elated that the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project is going to commence simultaneously from the Cross River end.”

He believes Tinubu, Umahi and Otu, are demonstrating considerable commitment to the welfare of his constituency and her people, praying that what they have so far shown deserves the support of the people in the interest of all.
