Imoke’s Agric Commissioner Resigns

James Aniyom, the Cross River State Commissioner for Agriculture, has resigned his appointment, www.calitown.com can reveal. However, while it was not possible at press time to get a copy of the resignation letter, our grounded sources say Aniyom turned in his resignation letter this past Monday in circumstances not unconnected with the political situation in the state.

One source told us that, “it is not surprising that Aniyom has thrown in the towel, when you consider the extent to which, a few persons with access to the governor, tried to rubbish him by gossiping to His Excellency that Aniyom keeps Goddy Agba’s company”. Imoke is believed to have swallowed the line and used the auspicious occasion of the Biase PDP caucus meet, several days ago, to mouth his displeasure at those another source referred to as, “people working with the governor but who are not with him”. Unconfirmed sources say while Aniyom may have tried to put up a defence, he was denied the opportunity.

We can confirm too that the same forces who have wrestled Aniyom to the ground, worked at becoming the stumbling block to the political aspirations of Aniyom’s protege, Edodi Ejekor, who lost his bid to represent Biase State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly. Aniyom who was the Chief of Staff to former Gov. Donald Duke, was unavailable for comments at the time of going to press.
