Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, says he left the embattled People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, because Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu “is doing well”.
Jarigbe who spoke shortly after he was led by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, in company of fellow decampee, Samaila Dahuwa Kaila, (Bauchi North Senatorial District), on a notification visit to Tinubu, maintained that he was teeming up with Tinubu and the APC, in a clear demonstration of his support for the President and his policies that are repositioning the country.
Akpabio, who also spoke after the visit, maintained that Jarigbe and Kaila, “are Mr. President’s children, the President is the father of the nation and father of all political parties. They are his guests. Interestingly they joined the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on a different political platform, but as a result of what I may call Mr. President’s policies, that have tended to turn things around … they found it expedient to come and join him build Nigeria. Theirs is nothing but patriotism, there are not interested in which political party is in power, they are interested in who can run Nigeria, who can improve Nigeria.”
Jarigbe’s movement to the APC appears to be the final straw in a political game that decimates the PDP in Cross River State, considering that he was almost single handedly funding the party’s survival admist an intractable political conflict that has remained unresolved.
