Governing  Board Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Victor Ndoma-Egba SAN, has expressed optimism that the new year will bring with it a lot of good tidings for Nigerians judging from the gains made by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration so far. He has further urged Nigerians to eschew all acts capable of over heating the polity, urging all to rededicate themselves to the service of God and the Nation.

This charge was contained in a signed release by his Special Assistant, Communications, Clara Braide, and issued to journalists.

“Let me use this opportunity to wish Nigerians a happy and prosperous 2018. I also salute Nigerians for their support and commitment to the APC-led Government in 2017. I understand that the past year has been a difficult one even as Government has laid the necessary foundation for setting our country on the path of sustainable growth. I am confident that many of Government’s effort will begin to yield positive dividends in the new year as our country climbs out of the economic recession”, the message said in parts.

Ndoma-Egba also restated his confidence in the ability of the Muhammadu Buhari led administration to deliver on the promises made during the campaigns, while reaffirming that “all hope is not lost in Project Nigeria. I firmly believe in Project Nigeria”, he emphasized.

“The NDDC and the people of the Niger Delta Region continue to stand for a united Nigeria and have confidence in the ability and commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari to provide the necessary leadership to set our economy and our country on the path of self-reliance. With the effective containment of Boko Haram insurgents in the North East, one major promise has been achieved even as Government continues to work on improving the safety of lives of Nigerians across the country.”

He again appealed to citizens of Nigeria and the people of the Niger Delta in particular to be more patient and supportive of the APC-led administration as it works towards changing the fortunes and narrative of the region and the country as a whole.

On the NDDC, Ndoma-Egba thanked the President for assenting to the Niger Delta Development Commission (establishment) Amendment Act, 2017,  which would facilitate additional revenue accruable to the Commission thereby increasing the funding of the Commission for effective discharge of its duties in line with its core mandate for the economic wellbeing of the Niger Delta Region. “We wish all Nigerians a very Happy and Prosperous New Year!” he concluded.
