Sources within the PDP in Yakurr LGA have informed www.calitown.com that Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba’s N4.8 million gift to the party is at the centre of a bitter disagreement that nearly turned bloody when Ndoma-Egba visited the area a couple of days ago.

Specifically, about six leading members of the party in the area (names witheld) are said to have attempted to short change the band of party supporters, mobilized for the legislator’s visit. Part of the plan was for the leaders to postpone to a later date, the sharing of the money as well as the sharing formula. The discovery of this plan said to have resulted in a heated argument culminating in supporters blocking the road and preventing Ndoma-Egba’s convoy from leaving the venue of the gathering until the senator intervened and pacified the crowd. The senator who represents CR’s Central Senatorial district and is vying for a record third term in office was only allowed to leave when the sharing formula was announced and sharing commenced.

“These men are fond of short changing us. They did the same thing in December (2013) when the senator gave us cow gifts and money, now they were attempting to do it again but we wouldn’t let that happen. When they go to Ndoma-Egba and tell him all sorts of lies to get money, we don’t stop them but this one that is our own, we insisted on collecting”, one source told www.calitown.com.

Presently, politicians in the state are working to outdo each other as the walk-in to the 2014 elections gather momentum. Cash gifts and other items are being hauled from one part of the state to another and while nothing is ever certain in politics, politicians are undeterred as the gift jamboree continues.
