best-laptop-under-400Confirmed sources inside the Calabar Office of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, say the Police in Calabar have nabbed a few suspected individuals with links to Saturday night’s theft at the FIRS office, opposite the Margaret Ekpo International airport, Calabar.

The office, close to the Airport Police Station is said to have been broken into, late Saturday night with several official laptops carted away by the suspects. Luck is believed to have run out of the suspects when one of them gave his friend a laptop to sell. At the point of sale, some FIRS officials who had gone to purchase toners at the place for the office, identified the laptop and called in the police. The individual who made the sale was immediately arrested, even though he claimed no knowledge of the theft.

Police sources confirmed that the individual who made the sale and the reciever were interrogated and the interrogation led to the arrest of other individuals suspected to have personally participated in the operation.

At press time, more arrests of suspects was ongoing and www.calitown.com was additionally informed that the Commissioner of Police is directly supervising investigations. “We are praying that non of our colleagues should be fingered by the suspects so far arrested. If any of our colleagues is fingered, it will be very unfortunate”, one FIRS source said.
