Breaking_NewsOfem Ubana, a 57-year-old serving Master Warrant Officer in the Nigerian Army has been selected as the new Obol Lopon of Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area, www.calitown.com can report.

Ubana who is a Chief Clerk, Amphibious Training School, ATS Calabar, while speaking with a group of online editors early Friday morning maintained that, he feels humbled that among so many young and eligible men in Ugep, he was selected. “It is a responsibility that I will discharge to the best of my abilities and I am praying that my people will give me all the cooperation that I need to lead them” he said.

On his plans as the new monarch, he promised to tackle head on, the challenge of cultism in the area. His words: “You know there are pockets of cultists in Ugep. I am not saying that we will completely eliminate them but I will seek ways and avenues of discussing and dialoguing with my people to ensure that there is permanent peace in Ugep. There is a lot of insecurity and plenty of people are living in fear and we will work hard to see that peace and stability is restored to our community.

While eulogizing his predecessor, Obol Ubi Ujong Inah, said the late monarch, “left very big shoes. He has elevated our royalty to a very high standard. All I can do is ask God to help me to lead my people from where he stopped. It will take time but God will help me.”

What is the criteria they used in choosing him? Has the gods spoken yet? Is he of the leboljimoh family?
