The lowered corpses before burial.

It was a tragedy of no mean proportion earlier today, Thursday, October 8, 2020, as a family in Edem Akai, Usuk Ukwok, Ini Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state, buried five of her members who lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident.

Grace Thompson Akpan, her two sons, her step sister, Iniobong Akpan, and their daughter-in-law, perished in the Akamkpa road accident when the bus they were travelling crashed with a truck and left 16 people dead. The occupants of the bus, www.calitown.com, was reliably informed, were travelling to Abak, Akwa Ibom state, for the burial of their neighbour when they met their unfortunate death.

The five corpses were lowered one after the other into a grave widely dug for them as a large crowd of people mourned with bereaved family members who wept uncontrollably. “I have never seen a thing like this in my life: five family members dying like this, may God protect us”, an elderly man at the burial mouthed in Ibibio language.
