Tribunal Dismisses Ayade’s Petition, Upholds Jarigbe’s Electoral Victory

The Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Calabar, CRS, has dismissed the electoral petition brought before it by former CRS governor, Ben Ayade, against the electoral victory of Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, the senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District in Nigeria’s Senate.

The petition was dismissed after the Tribunal ruled that Ayade’s petition lacks merit and was bereft of substance. It accordingly dismissed the petition.

We were reliably informed by legal expert, First Baba Isa that, “..all evidence and documents tendered by the petitioners (Ayade & the APC) were not pleaded, goes to no issue and all struck out. The documents pleaded in the Petition by Ayade and the APC were documents used for the Presidential Election and they are not allowed in law to tender the documents for senatorial elections.”

Jarigbe went biblical on his verified Facebook page when he delivered this cryptic message. “Lamentations 3:36 & 37 prevails”, he wrote. Taken from the bible, the post simply says, “…to deprive them of justice—would not the Lord see such things? Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it?” (New International Version)

The judgement sparked wild jubilations among supporters of the senator, who has been drawn into a relentless political battle by Ayade.
