UGEP: Mother Of Six Commits Suicide

Posted on January 26, 2023 By Admin No Comments on UGEP: Mother Of Six Commits Suicide
This picture from the crime has been intentionally blurred.

A mother of six, believed to be in her early forties, is suspected to have hung herself to death this morning in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area, Cross River Central, in circumstances that remain widely unclear.

Sources who woke up this morning to the ugly scene as well as residents of the area, suggested that the deceased may have been suffering from depression and suspected drug use. One source maintained to www.calitown.com that, “in recent times she has been taking Ice and we tried to stop her but you know what a drug addiction is, it is unfortunate that she had to take her life and we will have to bear the traditional cleansing consequences of her action.” (Ice, short for the potent central nervous system stimulant, Methamphetamine, is widely used as a recreational drug with harmful effects on the user.)

Oden Arikpo Ojah, the village head of Ibenda I community in the area, where the unfortunate incident occured, confirmed to us that he had been to see the corpse and has instructed that the police be first informed before the commencement of related rituals in conformity with domestic law and customs.
