…Future becomes bleak!

300 dental students of the University of Calabar, Cross River State, are in shock after authorities of the university reportedly advised them to transfer to other universities with immediate effect.
The advice given by the university we gather, comes on the heels of recent discovery that the university was not qualified to run a Faculty of Dentistry.
Independent investigations by www.calitown.com reveal that, the university’s advice was sudden, unexpected as it left the students with an uncertain future. We also gathered that, while the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCN, allows only 10 students per set in the Dental Surgery programme, Unical admitted between 60 and 90 students in some sets. Sadly, most of these students already had put in between five to eight years of study, which has come to nought.
“60 students wrote their final professional exam called Part V. 32 passed, and their names were sent to MDCN for approval. MDCN rejected the list because it was far above the allowed number of students”, we were also informed.
“This situation is driven by insatiable greed and an unyielding pursuit of ill-got wealth. Ambitions rooted in a desire for unlawful riches push individuals into a realm where moral boundaries become blurred, and the temptation of fortune overshadows ethical considerations. If you learn how much each person pays for admission, you will understand why the established quota was overlooked”, one Facebook user reacted.
Authorities of the University of Calabar were unavailable with comments at press time and it is clear that the school’s failure to secure accreditation means the Nigerian Dental and Medical Council no longer recognizes its dental programme.
