Authorities of the University of Cross River State, Unicross, have approved the appointment of Heads of Departments, HoDs, a list of new programmes recently approved by the National Universities Commission, NUC.

Austine Angba, Vice Chancellor of the University, who announced names of the new HoDs of during the university’s enlarged management meeting in the institution, listed the new appointees as Cassius Ogar, Acting Head of Department of Entrepreneurship Studies, Anthony Odu Oru, Acting Head of Department of Banking and Finance, Francis Anoka, Acting Head, Department of Economics, Ofut Ogar, Acting Head, Department of Software Engineering, and Julius Obidinnu, Acting Head, Department of Information Systems.

The other acting HoDs are, Sunday Ebaye, Peace Studies Department, Eteng Eloma, Department of Sociology, Tabe Ntui, Department of Industrial Chemistry, Michael Ayang-Nzan, Department of Broadcasting while Cornelius Ellah now heads the new Department of Journalism Studies. John Ukam is the new Acting Head, Department of Mass Communication.

The new Acting Heads of Departments are expected to resume duties immediately, with their appointments terminating in September 2025.

Recall that the National Universities Commission, NUC, recently gave approval to the university to commence academic activities in seventeen new programmes.
