Eka Braide

The paternal family of renowned parasitologist and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cross River State, Eka Ikpi Braide, is in deep mourning after the untimely death yesterday, Saturday, September 16, of her younger brother, Edet, in a ghastly auto crash.

Edet, driving from Ugep, Cross River State to Abuja, with his wife, three children and his wife’s relative, all died, when the deceased vehicle is believed to have had a head on collision with a truck around Abuochiche, Bekwarra LGA, Cross River State.

While family sources confirmed to www.calitown.com that all occupants of the vehicle died on the spot and their corpses deposited in a morgue in Abuochiche, the family appears to have concluded arrangements at press time to covey the six corpses to Ugep.

At the family compound in Ugep, pockets of persons were seen in mournful groups bemoaning the unfortunate fate that has befallen the family. Others, muffled cries and hugged each other in consolatory hugs.
