As many as 200 students of the University of Calabar, will benefit from a more than N10 million naira scholarship scheme, made available by businessman and politician, Chris Agara.

We gathered that the actual amount, N10,365,950, ten million, three hundred and sixty five thousand, nine hundred and fifty naira, has already been paid into the account of the University of Calabar through his Chris Agara Golden Jubilee Foundation. Beneficiaries will be verified students of Unical with genuine financial challenges, irrespective of state of origin or political affiliation.

Agara had in the past, during a 2017 public lecture organised by the Faculty of Social Sciences, Unical, announced a scholarship scheme for 100 students experiencing fee paying difficulties and further announced he was increasing the number to 200. This gesture, we further gathered, effectively fulfills that promise.
