Immediate past governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade, it has just been revealed, is not seeking a return to the Senate in 2027.

Former Obudu LG boss and close political confidant to Ayade, Eraye Ewhe, in a statement currently circulating on social media, maintains that: “At no time has he told anyone or indicated that he will be running for the senate seat in 2027.”

“Over the past year, several groups and individuals out of love for His Excellency and belief for his capacity have passionately called on him to give the Senate another shot. While he has always appreciated those efforts and agitations and the confidence they reflect, he has remained more focused on his personal and private life and has chosen not to pursue any political path at this time.”

“As a committed party member in Cross River State, his priority is ensuring it’s growth and survival beyond 2027. He wishes everyone interested in running the best of luck come 2027.”

This statement appears at a time when several politicians from the North of Cross River State, had their bets put on Ayade gunning to return to the senate. Many had projected that his bid to return will be a political rumble in CR North, having to again face Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, the senator who presently occupies the position, who had also defeated Ayade, in an earlier election to the senate.
