Credible police sources in Calabar, Cross River State, have informed www.calitown.com that of the 9,975 applicants who have currently presented themselves for police constable recruitment in the state, only 1,170 applicants are expected to scale through.

A breakdown shows that, police authorities are expected to pick, in this exercise, only 65 successful candidates from each of the 18 local government areas that make up the state will scale through in the 2025/2026 recruitment exercise.

At the Police Officers’ Mess on Moore Road Calabar, this past Monday, when he addressed the applicants, CRS Commissioner of Police, Rashid Afegbua, cautioned them against paying money to influence their recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force.

The exercise, which he stressed is free, transparent, and based solely on qualification and merit, will be professionally conducted to choose only the best candidates.

“The Command therefore advises all applicants to remain vigilant and report any individual or group, demanding money or making fraudulent promises in connection with the recruitment exercise via the Police complaint response unit in the state, 08134096900”, a statement signed by Eitokpah Sunday Akata, ASP, the Command’s PRO said.
