As show of support to the aged and elderly, believed to be very vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus, members of De Norsemen Kclub of Nigeria International, DNKI, Cross River State chapter, this afternoon in Calabar, presented packs of hand washing liquid, hand wipes, special organization crested washable and reusable face masks produced exclusively by the organization under strict hygienic conditions for members, their families, friends and members of the public as well as several other essential items to the Pope John Paul II Elderly Peoples Home in Calabar, CRS.

The specially crested masks donated to the home.

Captain Remi Eta, who heads the CRS chapter, informed at the presentation of the items that the presentation was driven by the International Executive body of the organization led by Dr Adesola Giwa, to basically ensure that the organization contributes her quota to the worldwide fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eta, a trained microbiologist, who also used the presentation ceremony to share knowledge with the Reverend sisters at the home on possible modes of transmission and what can be positively done to eliminate transmission, pleaded that strict measures in place will help protect the aged and elderly in the home. He pledged the organization’s continued support to the home and assured that more items will be donated to compliment the efforts of the Cross River State government and others in the fight against the pandemic.

A visibly elated Rev. Sr. Eyo, in-charge of the home, in her response, expressed appreciation to the organization for the items donated and especially thanked them for the exposé in the lecture given. She also prayed for the organization, imploring them to extend their milk of kindness to several other facilities beyond the state capital.

In compliance with DNKI standing policy of Social Distancing in the fight against the pandemic, attendance of members at the presentation ceremony was at its barest minimum, we were informed.
