While it is no more news that the All Progressives Congress, APC, Olulumo Ward, has suspended Mercy Nsor, Chairman of Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State, for six months, www.calitown.com can reliably inform that Nsor’s feud with Linda Nenjom Ndifon, the councillor representing Olulumo Ward, Ikom Council Legislature, provided the final straw that helped her suspension come through.
Nsor and Ndifon, we gather are from the same Olulumo Ward and recently had an altercation that led to Ndifon turning in a petition, dated April 3, 2026.
Ndifon wrote: “I write to formally bring to your attention a deeply troubling incident involving the Council Chairman of Ikom Local Government Area (Hon. Pastor Mercy Nsor), which I experienced firsthand.”
“On the 24th day of March 2026, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m, at Omon Ekpe Hall, during the just concluded voters’ registration exercise in Olulumo Ward, a process I was facilitating for the benefit of the ward. I was confronted by the Council Chairman, who accused me of misusing funds amounting to N700,000. I firmly state that this allegation is false and unfounded.”
“During the course of this confrontation, the situation escalated, and I was physically assaulted by the Chairman, resulting in injuries to my face. This incident occurred in a public setting and in the presence of others, thereby causing not only physical harm but also embarrassment and distress.”

“Furthermore, I have observed with serious concern that the council chairman has constituted a parallel ward executive structure within olulumo ward (disregarding the duly elected and inaugurated ward executive). This act in my view is inconsistent with established party procedures and has significantly contributed to division and disunity among party members at the ward level.”
“This action collectively represents a serious breach of conduct, abuse of office, and activities capable of under mining party unity and discipline, as well as threatening my safety as a duly elected Ward Councilor.”
The party leadership in Olulumo is said to have, on the strength of this petition and a few other allegations, invited the chairman, on multiple occasions to defend herself. “The Respondent was accorded multiple opportunities to appear before the Committee and present her defence. Despite these invitations, she declined to attend or make any written representation”, we were informed through documents sighted.
While sentiments appear to have been recently whipped to make the council boss come across as someone being maligned, Kingsley Akunobor, who signed a public statement on behalf of the Ward Executive Committee, All Progressives Congress, APC, Olulumo Ward, maintains in the statement that, the public commentary in question does not: “Refute the allegations investigated, challenge the evidence presented, dispute the testimonies of witnesses or identify any procedural irregularity in the Committee’s work. Instead, it relies largely on general assertions, emotional appeals, and unrelated considerations, which do not address the issues that were formally investigated.”
“The suggestion that disciplinary action should be evaluated based on perceived “achievements” is misplaced. Party discipline is concerned with conduct, adherence to Party principles, and respect for institutional processes—not performance comparisons.”
“The Party remains committed to upholding internal discipline, unity, and accountability at all levels. The decision taken reflects this commitment and is consistent with the provisions of the Party Constitution, which empowers its organs to address issues of misconduct where they arise.”
Contacted to react on this development, Council Secretary, Edo Owan, said this development is “an illegal move that will be addressed ASAP. The State working committee is on it.”
