CR: Unidentified Gunman Fatally Shoots Mobile Policeman At Checkpoint

Posted on July 13, 2020 By Admin No Comments on CR: Unidentified Gunman Fatally Shoots Mobile Policeman At Checkpoint

An unidentified gunman at 10pm yesterday, Sunday, fatally shot and wounded a mobile policeman at a checkpoint on the Itigidi/Ugep section of the Ugep/Abaomege road, linking Cross River State to the Eastern part of Nigeria.

We gathered that the victim and two other mobile policemen posted to the checkpoint, were sitting down when the gunman, riding a motorcycle arrived and fatally fired at the victim before speeding away. The motive behind this shooting is still unclear. Left in a pool of blood and battling for his life, his colleagues rallied round and rushed him to a clinic in Ugep, Yakurr LGA, where he was referred to Calabar for specialist ttreatment.

Contacted, Irene Ugbo, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, and Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Cross River State, said she was yet to be informed about the incident, promising to ask for details and get back to us. At press time she was yet to get back to us.
