“The Umor Bridge” Debuts In Ugep, August 14!

Posted on August 10, 2020August 10, 2020 By Admin No Comments on “The Umor Bridge” Debuts In Ugep, August 14!

Plans have been concluded for the debut of “The Umor Bridge” project,  an afternoon in Ugep, Yakurr LGA, Cross River State, dedicated to showcasing a compact string of moderated activities,  from poetry infused with the Yakurr dialect, spoken word, skills and respective art forms, exhibited and curated by indigenous young people from the area.

The project, is a brainchild of four young men, Akaamke Egbe, Ntongha Okoi, Clinton Ekoh and Jesam Ebri, the 2019 Mr. Leboku. “Besides listening to poetry and folklore,  “The Umor Bridge” is primarily an attempt to encourage and promote positive networking, where young people will meet modest exceptional men and women who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields of endeavour,  tap into their knowledge and skills as a means to a defined end”, a statement from the organizers said.

“Activities at this event will also help redirect youthful energy, away from the negative attraction of cultism and cult related activities that have in recent time stood the Ugep community in bad light”, the statement further said.

Akaamke Egbe, one of the organizers of the event informed www.calitown.com that the event will hold at Downtown Ethiopia, Ugep, this Friday, August 14, 2020, beginning from 2pm. “Some well-meaning indigenes of Ugep have so far supported the birth of this project with cash and kind contributions; something we are very grateful for. This is the beginning, several series of this project will come up and through arts and entertainment, we hope to modestly tackle the teething social problem confronting Ugep in particular and Yakurr LGA in general”, he concluded.
